It Takes a Community to Change Our Schools

Technology

For young creative minds technology rocks! Students are excited about learning the wonders of our world! The challenge for teachers is accessing training to help them use and bring technology programs and resources into the classroom.

My project's goal is to teach my students how to use a USB flash drive to store documents they've created, and to continually add to those documents while becoming confidant and savvy technology users. I need $170 ($7 x 24).

I am the Enrichment teacher at Acequia Madre Elementary and my students have the wonderful opportunity to study robotics with a scientist from Los Alamos Labs. During this project, groups of 5-6 students will work in teams to solve real-life problems. Each group will design, build, and program a robot for a specific purpose. After designing, building, and programming, we will analyze the success of each robot in solving the problem presented.
We are requesting 2 kits at a total cost of $558.00. This project will encourage teamwork, problem solving, computer skills, and familiarity with robotics. Please help this opportunity happen for my students and for students in years to come.

We would like a mini-computer lab for the AVID Classroom, which can be utilized not only by my students, but by students in all 4 levels of AVID at Capital High. A mobile laptop lab with wireless internet access, comprised of 10 or more laptops, would give these students a chance to access the wide range of data available to support them in reaching their college goals.. I teach the AVID Elective at Capital High School. AVID's mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.

The kids at ATC need headsets with microphones & USB cables to work on computers. They are currently enrolled in the Rosetta Stone program. I need 24 headsets so the kids are able to speak their answers, as well as hear the lesson. These headsets that are compatible with the laptops in class require a microphone as well as a USB cable.

Rosetta Stone prepares our students to succeed in a highly globalized society . The Rosetta Stone program gives them a global voice with a new language. Rosetta Stone provides a path students and educators can follow with confidence. These headsets will create a better learning opportunity in the classroom so all students can participate.

iMicro IM320 USB Headsets run approximately $10 per unit and the program cost would be $250 (with shipping).

I would  like for the students to have the opportunity to use digital handheld recorders in the foreign language classroom. This technology is required for all AP foreign language exams and those students who have had access to this technology from level 1 are much more likely to succeed on this exam.

These recorders allow the students to download their audio samples onto a classroom computer and monitor their progress throughout the year.

One classroom set of 35 recorders would be a great starting place.

Teaching 8th and 10th graders is so rewarding.  I just need help in creating a better presentation to my students.  A screen and document reader would be most helpful in presenting novels and short stories.  I also would ilke to save paper.

Progress: 100% Goal: $300
