Students at the Academy are on the go! Periodicals are published frequently and are the best source for current information! The Library at the Academy wants to purchase periodicals including newspaper and magazine subscriptions. By expanding our library with periodicals, we will look to broaden and enrich our students' experiences in reading, writing, listening, and speaking--and be up to date on the latest trends, products, research and theories.
Every student will have the opportunity to gain new perspectives on world events and to enrich their writing on various topics by using the periodicals that are available to all in the library. Periodicals are by design attractive, well-written, and well-illustrated sources of information--worthy adjuncts to textbooks and class discussions.
High school is a time when students are exploring their connections to the world around them. To become life-long learners, our students must familiarize themselves with sources of useful and credible information about science, technology, culture, politics and world events. Periodicals in the school library are one of the best ways to show our students the interconnectivity and influence of current events and to demonstrate the personal power that comes from reading about events on their own.
Periodicals will are the best sources for current information. Current events are usually discussed in periodicals long before they become the subject of a book. Periodicals often contain information on the latest trends, products, research and theories. Periodicals are the best source for very specialized information. Periodicals exist for every field and every interest, providing access to a variety of hard-to find information.Due to the shorter length of periodical articles, more topics may be covered within one volume of a periodical than in one book.
