Partners Adaptive Ski Program Adaptive skiing in the Southwest is increasingly popular because of its blue skies and warmer day temperatures. Yet it is the warm feel of the people involved in the Adaptive Ski Program that make skiing in the Southwest the absolute best! Since 1985, the Adaptive Ski Program has offered safe and supportive alpine ski lessons for adults and children (five years & older) with a wide array of disabilities. Lessons take place at Sandia Peak outside of Albuquerque and at Ski Santa Fe, 14 miles from the Santa Fe Plaza. Instruction is available in 2 track, 3 track, 4 track, blind, deaf, mono-ski, bi-ski & snowboarding. Assistance Dogs of the West Assistance Dogs of the West provides trained service dogs to people with disabilities in order to increase self-reliance and independence. Santa Fe County Youth Development Center The Santa Fe County Youth Development Program, is dedicated to changing the lives of our youth by providing a safe, secure, structured, caring and learning environment. Through meaningful interaction and role modeling, we strive to develop in our youth the character traits of honesty, respect, and responsibility. Given their continued desire and commitment to develop, our youth develop goals which can assist them to become productive members of society. The program serves pre-adjudicated youth from Santa Fe, surrounding Counties, Pueblos, and the US Marshals Service. The program is highly structured and extremely staff intensive with a staff to client ratio of 1 to 8. Youth are assigned to a unit, a case manager and therapists, if necessary, who support and assist them throughout their detention. The staff works closely with each youth's Probation Officer, Social Worker, Guardian and Family to ensure the appropriate course of treatment is identified and provided while in the facility and appropriatereferral information upon release from the facility. The multi-disciplinary treatment team is a critical and key factor in this process. Cooking with Kids Cooking with Kids motivates and empowers elementary school students to make healthy food choices.
