How It Works How does Dollars4Schools.org work? Santa Fe teachers and principals submit their programs on our website. They describe the program, how many children(and grades) it will serve and in what program area (such as literacy, math, basic needs etc) it falls. They also request the money they need to complete the program. Community donors can then look on the site, view the programs and the funding needs, and donate to a particular program, program area or school…it’s that easy! What if a program doesn’t meet its funding needs? Programs are posted on the site for six months. After this time, sometimes the balance of a program can be funded from “General Programs” donations. If a program does not meet its full balance request, we will also work with the teacher to see if there is a way the program can be completed on a smaller scale. If this is not possible, or if other circumstances have arisen to make this program no longer viable (for example, the teacher leaving the district) the funds allocated to that program are put in the “General Programs” fund to be reallocated to other projects. How does the teacher get the money? When the funding is completed for a program, the Santa Fe Community Foundation disburses the funds in one of two ways: 1. Directly to a teacher or a specific school, or 2. To one of our non-profit partner programs. Is the money I donate tax-deductible? Yes, Dollars4Schools is administered by the Santa Fe Community Foundation, a 501(C)3 corporation, and all donations are tax-deductible to the extent provided by law. Is my donation used for administration? 100% of any money donated to a program, program area or school goes entirely to that need. Dollars4Schools also accepts donations for administration, but those donations are made separately.
