We are an SFPS authorized charter school serving students in grades 7-12. ATC was just recognized as a Bronze Medal school by U.S. News and World Report for the second time in three years. Our graduation requirements include four years of math inclusive of Algebra II and three years of foreign language. ATC recognizes that well-rounded students must be skilled in technology use. Our students utilize technological resources to access, process, and present information. Technology hardware and software are integrated across the curriculum. ATC recognizes our students require skills that will prepare them for a rapidly changing world and we stay abreast with current research and best practice regarding those skills. ATC embraces the “classical” model of American education which holds the arts in high esteem and realizes the study of cultures is an essential part of an holistic education. Overview The Academy for Technology and the Classics (ATC) was founded in 2000 to provide a classical and technology-based approach to education in a public school setting. ATC remains the smallest public high school in Santa Fe and aims to integrate students with a variety of learning styles and personal strengths in order to foster communication, literacy, critical thinking, and the personal skills necessary for a successful future. The school’s mission is to provide an academically charged environment while instilling the “classic” moral values of respect, integrity, responsibility, and honesty. ATC cultivates fearless learners. Values ATC recruits and retains the best possible teachers. Students are challenged to reach their full intellectual potential and to think, analyze, and articulate ideas. The ATC community promotes an atmosphere of mutual respect and collaboration among students, teachers, and parents through building positive relationships. Staff and students accept and encourage their peers’ creativity, diversity, and individual personalities. College Preparatory Curriculum and College Advising ATC emphasizes honors, pre-advanced placement (AP) and AP classes. ATC offers a college advisory program in which a student is assigned an advisor in 7th grade who works with that student through 12th grade. The advisor helps students to prepare for college and to find the college that best fits each student’s skills, needs, and interests. Classics and Technology ATC integrates the classics into its curriculum through teaching outstanding literary, historical, scientific and artistic works from cultures around the world. ATC brings technology that is effective as an educational tool into its curriculum and classrooms.
