Programs at Carlos Gilbert Elementary School « Back to Schools About Carlos Gilbert Elementary School The mission of Carlos Gilbert Elementary School is to provide quality educational opportunities for all students. To address the mission the Carlos Gilbert Community will: Provide a safe and secure environment where everyone enjoys teaching and learning; Offer a strong standards based Kindergarten-6th grade curriculum; Focus on quality researched based instructional strategies; and Create an environment where students, parents, staff and the community are partners in the educational process and achievement of all students. Carlos Gilbert Elementary School has provided three generations of Santa Fe families a high quality education for over sixty years. Located within walking distance of the downtown Santa Fe Plaza, Carlos Gilbert is the only two story elementary school in our District. Our location downtown provides students with many opportunities to experience arts and culture at our local performing arts venues and downtown museums. We encourage parent and community participation and partner with the Los Alamos National Bank and First Presbyterian Church among other local businesses and arts organizations. Many of our parents work within walking distance of Carlos Gilbert and can be found in classrooms volunteering or visiting their children over the lunch hour. Carlos Gilbert has an active student council, Parent, Teacher, Kids (PTK) organization and ongoing Character Counts! education.
